Schengen citizens will now need to pay more for Algeria Visas

Citizens from the member states of the Schengen Zone will now need to shell out more for short-term Algeria Visas. The Visa fee increase is in reciprocation to the rise in the Schengen Visa fee from 2nd February.

Algeria has increased the Visa fee by €20 per Visa application. Citizens of Schengen countries will now need to pay €105 instead of the earlier €85.

However, there is no change in the Visa fee for long-term Algeria Visas. The long-term Visa fee will remain steady at €125.

As per new Schengen Visa rules introduced on 2nd February, the Schengen Visa fee has been hiked from the earlier €60 to €80. The Visa fee for children between 6 and 12 years has been increased from €35 to €40.

Countries which have a deal with the European Union over Visa facilitation services will not be subject to the increased Schengen Visa fee. Such Visa applicants would need to pay €35 per application.

Algeria has applied the principle of reciprocity in response to the new Schengen Visa rules. Apart from the increased Visa fee, Algeria has also created the possibility for Schengen citizens who are frequent travellers to get multiple-entry Visas.

Multiple-entry Schengen Visas allow travellers to travel several times to member states of the Schengen Zone. However, the maximum stay period is 90 days within 180 days. You also need to meet the eligibility criteria for a multiple-entry Schengen Visa. You should have a strong reason for seeking a multiple-entry Schengen Visa. It is also imperative that you have a clean Visa history. You should have never overstayed your Visa. It is also essential to have a clean criminal record. If you do not meet any of these criteria, it may be difficult for you to obtain a multiple-entry Schengen Visa.

In a reciprocal move to the Schengen Visa fee increase from 2nd February, Algeria has increased the Visa fee for its short-term Visas. The good news is that long-term Visas for Algeria will remain unaffected by the change.
