UAE residents urged to renew documents

As per an official announcement across the various media channels, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has urged residents to get their documents renewed. The ICA manages Emirates ID process across the UAE.

According to an October 6, 2020, tweet by the official ICA handle – @ICAUAE – “If you are entitled to the UAE ID renewal deadline during the COVID-19 pandemic precautionary measures, you are required to expedite the renewal process of your UAE ID (EID) before 11 October 2020”.

Those that had their Emirates ID expire after March 1, 2020, and during the coronavirus restrictions in the UAE will be required to get a renewal of their Emirates ID and visa before the ending of the grace period on October 10, 2020.

Dubai residents with visas expired between March 1 and July 12, 2020 have until October 10 to get their residency permits renewed without fines while they are within the country.

A simple and straightforward renewal process, the Emirates ID renewal form can be secured from any of the registered typing centres across the UAE or at ICA offices.

The following documents will have to be submitted –

Expired ID card – in original, copy, or details
Passport – original, with a residence visa
For those below 15 years – [1] passport photo, [2] original birth certificate, [3] Emirate ID or passport of either parent
Passport photo – for elderly and those unable to visit service centre due to health reasons

The individual can proceed to make the payment for renewal once the form has been submitted and the relevant documents submitted.

Fees for renewal –

For 2 years Dh270
For 3 years Dh370

If, for any reason, the Emirates ID is not renewed within the grace period provided, a late payment fine at Dh20 per day will be applicable. The maximum fine under such circumstances will be Dh1,000.
