Abstract: The British authorities have done away with the rule of international students in UK to register with the local police officials.
The United Kingdom has removed its directive for international students to submit their detail to the local police department.
International students staying in UK for more than 6 months were required to register with police officials and submit their details, such as place of study, country of origin, and contact details with the local police. They also had to pay a fee.
The Home Office of the UK withdrew this mandate, effective from August 4, 2022.

Changes in Rules for International Students in UK
As per the official notification by the UK government, the changes in rules apply to the incoming students in the future as well as the students currently pursuing education in the country. International students who have registered their details to the police. Earlier, the students had to inform the local police authorities if they chose to remain in or leave the country.
The decision to do away with the requirement of registration with the Police Registration Scheme is welcoming news for international students and universities, alike. There was a call by the students and universities to drop this rule.
