Oman has announced the suspension of all Tourist Visas starting 15th March 2020 for 30 days. The country will also not allow cruise ships to dock at its ports during this period. The cancellation of Tourist Visas has been taken as a preventive measure against the Coronavirus outbreak.
The decision to cancel all Tourist Visas was taken at a special committee meeting to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak.
Several decisions were taken at the committee meeting, which was:
- Cancel Tourist Visas for all countries
- Suspension of all sports-related activities
- Suspend all non-class related student activities. Undertake procedures in accordance with the latest Coronavirus pandemic data.
- Stop cruise liners from docking at the ports of Oman
- Limit the attendance at court to only the concerned parties
- Banning shisha from being served at all licensed outlets
The special committee also recommended limiting travelling abroad to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Travelling is only recommended in emergency cases.
Oman has also decided to implement precautionary measures at places of worship and family gatherings and cinema halls.
