As of July 15, Malta has expanded the list of people that are allowed to enter Malta. With the addition of 3 new third countries, Malta has now opened its borders to nationals from 28 new countries.
These countries are being referred to as “safe corridor countries” by Malta. This was done following an evaluation that found these countries to be epidemiologically safe. Malta has decided to allow them entry as arrivals from such countries posed a lower risk for further COVID-19 spread in Malta.
From July 15, residents of the following countries can enter Malta for non-essential purposes –

The previous list, coming into effect on July 1, consisted the following countries – Italy, France, Croatia, Greece, Luxembourg, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Cyprus, Hungary, Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Iceland, Lithuania, Finland, and Latvia.
Malta’s decisions are not in keeping with the recommendation by the EU Commission regarding the reopening of borders to all EU countries beginning June 15, as well as another EU recommendation to reopen borders to 15 third-countries from July 1.
Moreover, Malta has added – to its list of “safe corridor countries” – countries, such as the UAE and Turkey, that have not been listed as epidemiologically safe by the EU Council.
Negative COVID-19 test results and quarantine will not be required upon entering into Malta. However, those showing any COVID-19 symptoms at the port of entry will be asked to get a PCR swab test done.
All travellers will be required to fill up 2 forms – the Passenger locator Form, and the Public Health Travel Declaration Form. These will have to be handed over to the Aircraft Crew.
These forms can also be dropped into deposit boxes available on exiting from the Terminal Temperature Screening Points upon arrival at the Malta International Airport.
